“Yökoulu ja Turmion teatteri” is a stage play based on Paula Noronen’s book published in 2024.

The students of Night School have a “work-life familiarization night” and visit the workplaces of their monster parents. Martta the Vampire’s mother works as a costume designer at an ordinary human theatre. The children from Night School infiltrate the human theatre to spy on the humans’ strange habits. They must not be discovered, so that Martta’s mother is not exposed as a vampire and fired from her job. However, Martta gets caught. What follows is a wildly absurd rescue operation as the children try to save Martta from the clutches of an over-inspired director.

The play offers a delightfully twisted world that celebrates diversity. It makes the ordinary seem strange and the strange seem ordinary. The monster children possess the most unusual special skills, all of which prove indispensable along the way. At Night School, everything operates according to monster logic, and not even an invisible classmate is left out of the group. The play is aimed at primary school–aged children.
